network with annual multiple participations since 2015. They have been using the Global-PPS data to create a hospital stewardship program and in August 2018, the Nigerian working group on AMS was established. The team identified several challenges, such as very high antimicrobial prescribing rates, underutilization of clinical microbiology, l<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ack of<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> information on MDRO\u2019s, and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">lack of<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> empiric antibiotic guidelines. Therefore, a hospital antibiotic policy was written based on Global-PPS results. Oyinlola O. Oduyebo, Professor of Clinical Microbiology at LUTH, and her AMS team received the very first <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ams-accredit.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">GAMSAS accreditation<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The Global Antimicrobial Stewardship Accreditation Scheme (GAMSAS) was developed by the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (BSAC) in 2022. The scheme assesses, guides and accredits hospitals&#8217; AMS programs through a standards-based process to support effective AMS.
