hospitales es fundamental para desarrollar intervenciones de gesti\u00f3n espec\u00edficas y eficaces. En un nuevo estudio de la Encuesta Global de Prevalencia Puntual (Global-PPS), los investigadores se propusieron identificar los factores predictivos del uso de antibi\u00f3ticos a nivel hospitalario en diferentes entornos sanitarios de todo el mundo.<\/p><p>El estudio incluy\u00f3 a 138 hospitales de B\u00e9lgica, Filipinas y Sud\u00e1frica que participaron en el m\u00f3dulo Global-PPS sobre infecciones asociadas a la atenci\u00f3n sanitaria (HAI) de 2022-2023. Mediante modelos lineales mixtos y m\u00e9todos de selecci\u00f3n por pasos, el equipo analiz\u00f3 qu\u00e9 caracter\u00edsticas de los hospitales se asociaban con una mayor prevalencia del uso de antibi\u00f3ticos. Los resultados revelaron diferencias sustanciales entre los pa\u00edses: no hubo ning\u00fan factor predictivo com\u00fan en los tres modelos nacionales.<\/p><p>Aunque el tipo de dispositivos invasivos variaba seg\u00fan el pa\u00eds, los hospitales que trataban a una mayor proporci\u00f3n de pacientes con esos dispositivos tambi\u00e9n registraban un mayor consumo de antibi\u00f3ticos. El estudio destaca:<\/p><ul><li>Se observaron diferencias sustanciales entre los distintos pa\u00edses en cuanto a los factores predictivos del uso de antibi\u00f3ticos a nivel hospitalario<\/li><li>La proporci\u00f3n de pacientes con (determinados) dispositivos invasivos parece ser un factor predictivo importante en todo el mundo<\/li><li>La incorporaci\u00f3n de factores contextuales m\u00e1s amplios podr\u00eda aportar una visi\u00f3n m\u00e1s profunda de los factores predictivos del uso de antibi\u00f3ticos<\/li><\/ul><p>Annelies Boven, autora del estudio: \u00abConsideramos que este tipo de investigaci\u00f3n constituye un paso importante para que la evaluaci\u00f3n comparativa a nivel hospitalario resulte m\u00e1s significativa y para que los resultados autom\u00e1ticos del Global-PPS se conviertan en algo que los hospitales puedan utilizar de verdad para una gesti\u00f3n orientada a objetivos.
