2022, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radboudumc.nl\/en\/radboudumc-center-of-infectious-diseases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Radboud University Medical Centre<\/a> (Radboudumc) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uantwerpen.be\/en\/research-groups\/laboratory-of-medical-microbiology\/about-lmm\/our-team\/phd-students\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University of Antwerp<\/a> joined forces to launch drive-AMS, a new project <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/funding-tenders\/opportunities\/portal\/screen\/opportunities\/projects-details\/43332642\/101079985\/EU4H\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">funded under the EU4Health Programme<\/a>. This project aims to intensify antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) programmes across the European Union by improving prudent antimicrobial use (AMU) and strengthening AMU surveillance, which are both key priorities of the <a href=\"https:\/\/health.ec.europa.eu\/system\/files\/2020-01\/amr_2017_action-plan_0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EU One Health Action Plan on AMR<\/a>.<\/p><p>In 2018, Radboudumc developed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radboudumc.nl\/en\/education\/courses\/dutch-antimicrobial-stewardship\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dutch Antimicrobial Stewardship, Masterclass &amp; Expert consultancy programme<\/a>, providing a guidance for professionals and policy makers through the process of developing and implementing a successful Antimicrobial Stewardship Program in healthcare facilities. In 2014, the Global Point Prevalence Survey of Antimicrobial Consumption and Resistance (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.global-pps.com\/ar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Global-PPS<\/a>), was developed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uantwerpen.be\/en\/research-groups\/laboratory-of-medical-microbiology\/projects-and-publications\/projects\/antibiotic-use\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Laboratory of Medical Microbiology<\/a> of the University of Antwerp, to provide a standardized, feasible and freely available web-based surveillance tool for measuring the quality of antimicrobial prescribing practice in hospitals worldwide. <br \/>These two programmes are now working together in the drive-AMS project. It combines three key elements: knowledge transfer, measurement, and expert consultation.<\/p><p>drive-AMS will be implemented in four European countries (Greece, Lithuania, Portugal and Romania) where national AMS experts will be trained as trainers. drive-AMS will enhance the impact of sustainable AMS implementation, through:<\/p><ul><li>Understanding principles of Antimicrobial Stewardship through an online pre-course<\/li><li>Identifying gaps in antimicrobial prescribing by a pre-course Global-PPS<\/li><li>Providing a 4-day Masterclass for Antimicrobial Stewardship teams on development and implementation of AMS interventions. Prepare a plan of action for &#8220;My Project\u201d<\/li><li>Providing 6-9 month expert support for the execution of \u201cMy Project\u201d in the participants\u2019 own hospital practice<\/li><li>Measuring impact by a post-course Global-PPS<\/li><\/ul><p>drive-AMS will run for 3 years and will officially kick off with an online meeting on 9 December 2022, with the participation of all implementing partners: the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hi.lt\/en.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Institute of Hygiene<\/a> from Lithuania, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.auth.gr\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aristotle University of Thessaloniki<\/a> from Greece, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.umfcluj.ro\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Iuliu Ha\u021bieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy<\/a> from Romania, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/portal-chsj.min-saude.pt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University Hospital Centre of S\u00e3o Jo\u00e3o <\/a>from Portugal.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On the 1st of November 2022, Radboud University Medical Centre (Radboudumc) and University of Antwerp joined forces to launch drive-AMS, a new project funded under the EU4Health Programme.
